Steven Malliet

Steven Malliet (Ph.D.) performs research on the social/psychological impact of digital game play. He has published internationally on subjects such as digital game realism, game theory, educational games, video game history, and the effects of digital game play. He is a co-founder of the DiGRA Flanders research organisation, and has received international awards for his work on digital game realism.

His work in the Play&Game research group includes evaluating user experiences and coordinating the development of educational games based upon literature and research. He also participates in the research activities on full dome storytelling. He teaches on current evolutions in new media research, on the risks and opportunities related to the use of new media, and on media theory in general. Also as a member of the ‘Media, Policy & Culture’ research group (University of Antwerp) he is currently working on a RAAK – financed project on the use of biometric methods for performing player evaluation tests.
